Well, personally, I like Adobe Premiere...
but shakespeareskin, oh shakespeareskin...
spend your money? Is that truly necessary? With the abundance of hack sites on the net?
With other individuals who most surely have the program themselves?
Not purchasing is the best way to test.
I'd even offer to burn you a copy and mail it...
now if only I had a CD burner.

I have been using premeire and I love it, It isn't too hard to use, and it has alot of features which make it very cool to fool around with and be creative. there are also a lot of plugins avaliable for it which can help you really have some fun. I haven't used any of the others so I cannot comment on them.
Have fun

if you find sombody else with a copy, then borrow it off them. There isnt much protection, apart from the CD key, which they can give you.
Failing that you can find a dodgey cd (they seem to come and go). I had ULEAD off a "topman and ripper" cd. Dont ask me where to get them from because i dont know! I just get them of frineds, friends, friends etc!
ULEAD is another one you should consider. Its got some better points than premiere, and some worse points. Its quite similar.
Anyway, check out my site if you havnt, there is some good advise there:

if your looking for crack sites, then try:

Not that i have ever cracked anything, cus of course that would be illegal.

I would consider Ulead but unfortunately they don't have anything out for the Mac at the moment...only PC stuff so far.

I would have to put my vote in for EditDV. I use the unplugged version myself because of it's wonderful new price......free!! Go to www.digitalorigin.com and all you mac people out there can download EditDV Unplugged for free. It includes Media Cleaner EZ for quicktime. I fully intend on buying the full version of this program some day. I would consider Final Cut if I thought I could afford the extra 50% price increase. One of the only things that sucks about EditDV is that third party plugins are pretty much non existent. The newest version however can use all of the quicktime filters.
I've found the unplugged version to be very intuitive and simple to use. I pretty much had it figured after doing one 2 minute project on it. The pdf manual included explains it all very nicely. Good titling too.
happy shopping.
tash.
